Movie Mode
To shoot movies with sound recorded via the built-in microphone, select
shooting mode and follow the steps below.
1 Enter movie mode by pressing
p in shooting mode, selecting
S (press the multi selector I),
and then pressing d.
Exposure count display shows maximum total length
of movie that can be recorded.
2 Press the shutter-release button fully to
start recording.
A progress bar at the bottom of the monitor shows
the amount of recording time remaining.
Recording will end if the shutter-release button is
pressed all the way down a second time, or when the
internal memory or memory card is full.
k Recording Movies
The self-timer (c 30) and flash (c 28) (except for time-lapse and stop-motion movie) can-
not be used in movie mode.
Digital zoom (up to 2×) can be applied while movies are being recorded. Adjust zoom
before beginning recording. Once recording begins, optical zoom cannot be adjusted.
If the camera is pointed at the sun or other bright light source during recording, vertical
comet-like streaks (“smear”) may appear in the movie. Avoid pointing the camera at bright
light sources when filming movies.
