Automatically fires in
low-light or backlit
conditions (p. 28).
Significantly reduces
the phenomenon of
"red-eye" (when a
subject's eyes appear
red)
(p.
30).
Fires regardless of
available light (p. 31).
There is danger of temporarily
affecting vision when the flash is
fired very close to a person or
animal.
In the dark, the flash also functions
as an autofocus illuminator. When
the shutter release button is
pressed halfway, the flash emits
several brief pre-flashes. When
the shutter release button is
pressed fully, the flash fires to take
the picture. Hold the camera firmly
until the picture is taken.
