Extra Optical Zoom
When you select a picture size with for [Picture Size] on the [Rec] menu, you can
zoom pictures to a higher zoom ratio with no deterioration in picture quality. The zoom
ratio changes in accordance with the picture size setting. EZ is short for “Extra Optical
Zoom.”

Extra Optical Zoom cannot be used in the following cases:
• [Motion Picture] Mode
• Scene Modes ([Panorama Shot] [High Sens.] and [Photo Frame])
• When the [Burst] setting is set to or

To increase the zoom ratio further, the following zoom can be used in combination.

i.Zoom
You can use the camera’s super resolution technology to increase the zoom ratio up
to 2 times higher than the original zoom ratio while preventing deterioration of picture
quality. Select [i.ZOOM] on [i.Resolution] in the [Rec] menu. (→59)

When [i.Resolution] is set to [i.ZOOM], super resolution technology is applied to the
picture.

[i.ZOOM] cannot be used in the following cases:
• [Motion Picture] Mode
• Scene Modes ([Panorama Shot] and [High Sens.])
• When the [Burst] setting is set to or

Digital Zoom
Zoom 4 times further than Optical/Extra Optical Zoom. Note that, with Digital Zoom,
enlarging will decrease picture quality. Set the [Digital Zoom] in the [Rec] menu to [ON].
