Troubleshooting
The pictures stored on a “Memory Stick Duo” are not played back in their
correct size or aspect ratio.
• Pictures recorded on other devices may not appear in their actual size. This is not a
malfunction.
Image data stored on a “Memory Stick Duo” cannot be played back.
• You cannot see movies recorded with other camcorders on the “Memory Stick Duo.”
• Image data cannot be played back if you have modified file names or folders, or have edited
the data on a computer (In this case, the file name flashes). This is not a malfunction (p. 115).
• Pictures recorded on other devices may not be played back. This is not a malfunction
(p. 115).
Horizontal lines appear on the picture. The displayed pictures are not clear or
do not appear.
• Clean the head using the cleaning cassette (optional) (p. 119).
You cannot hear the sound recorded with 4CH MIC REC on another camcorder.
• Adjust [ AUDIO MIX] (p. 66).
Fine patterns flicker, diagonal lines look jagged.
• Adjust [SHARPNESS] to the (soften) side (p. 54).
No sound or only a low sound is heard.
• Set [MULTI-SOUND] to [STEREO] (p. 67).
• Turn up the volume (p. 31).
• Adjust [ AUDIO MIX] from the [ST2] (additional sound) side until the sound is heard
appropriately (p. 66).
• If you are using an S VIDEO plug or component video plug, make sure the red and white
plugs of the A/V connecting cable are also connected (p. 42).
• Pictures recorded using [SMTH SLW REC] do not have sounds.
The picture or sound breaks off.
• The tape was recorded in both of the HDV and DV formats. This is not a malfunction.
The movies freeze for a while, or the sound breaks off.
• This occurs if the tape or video head is dirty (p. 119).
Use the Sony mini DV cassette.
