Troubleshooting
Problem Cause Solution
The camera will
not operate.
The camera is turned off. zTurn the power on.
(See Turning the Power ON/OFF (p. 23))
The CF card slot/battery cover is open.
zBe sure the cover is closed securely.
Batteries are loaded in the wrong
direction.
zReload the batteries in the correct direction.
Batteries are depleted. zReplace with unused alkaline (two AA-size
batteries) or fully recharged Canon AA-size
NiMH batteries.
zUse a household power source.
Batteries are not the right type. zUse only new AA-size alkaline batteries or
Canon AA-size NiMH batteries.
(For the information about alkaline batteries,
see Proper Battery Handling (p. 16).)
Batteries are not making good
electrical contact with the camera.
zWipe the battery terminals with a clean dry
cloth.
The camera will
not shoot.
Camera is in Playback mode. zChange to a Shooting mode.
The flash is charging. zWait until the flash charges. You can press the
shutter button when the indicator lights orange
steadily.
The CF card is full. zInsert a new CF card.

Download images to your computer, then erase
them from the card to free up more space.
