Using an Externally Mounted Flash (Sold Separately)

Turn the flash on, then turn the
camera on.
XA red h appears on the screen (or the
viewfinder).
XWhen the flash is charged, its pilot lamp will
light.
Display the flash settings screen.
Press the n button to choose [Flash
Control] from the 4 tab, then press the
m button.
XThe options set on the flash will appear.
Make the setting.
Press the op buttons or turn the  dial
to choose an item, then press the qr
buttons to adjust the setting.
The available settings differ depending on
the flash (p. 170).
In modes other than G, M, B, and D,
flash settings cannot be changed since the
flash adjusts and fires automatically.
Attaching the Hot Shoe Cap
Attach the hot shoe cap when you are not
using an externally mounted flash.
If you hold down the h button for more than one second, you can also
display the settings screen.
