Setting self-timer
The self-timer setting changes each time you press * (o).
Intelligent Face Detection
Using Intelligent Face Detection with the self-timer allows
the camera to detect the faces of subjects in the picture
and automatically bring them into focus, without the need
for manual focusing beforehand. This is convenient when
taking a self portrait.
Taking pictures using self-timer
1 Press the shutter button down halfway to
focus on the subject and press the shutter
button fully.

all the way down (fully pressed) to start the self-timer.
