B Notes About Saving Images and Recording Movies
The indicator showing the number of exposures remaining or the indicator showing
the maximum movie length flashes while images are being saved or while a movie is
being recorded. Do not open the battery-chamber/memory card slot cover or
remove the battery or memory card while an indicator is flashing. Doing this could
result in loss of data, or in damage to the camera or the memory card.
C Flash
If the subject is dimly lit, the flash will pop up
automatically when you press the shutter-release
button halfway when the flash mode is set to
U (auto; default setting). The flash will fire
when you press the shutter-release button all the
way. See “Using the Flash” (A50) for more
information.
Lower the flash by gently pushing it down. When not taking images, lower the
flash.
Press halfway
To set focus and exposure (shutter speed and
aperture value), press the shutter-release button
lightly until you feel a slight resistance.
Focus and exposure remain locked while the
shutter-release button is pressed halfway.
Press all the
way
Press the shutter-release button all the way to
release the shutter and take an image.
