Basic Shooting and Playback Operations
Using the Zoom
When you move the zoom control, the zoom
lens position changes.
To zoom in: Move toward g
To zoom out and view a larger area: Move
toward f
When you turn the camera on, the zoom
moves to the maximum wide-angle
position.
A zoom indicator is displayed on the
shooting screen when the zoom control is
moved.
Digital zoom, which allows you to further
magnify the subject up to approximately 4×
the maximum optical zoom ratio, can be activated by moving and holding
the zoom control toward g when the camera is zoomed in to the maximum
optical zoom position.
C Digital Zoom
The zoom indicator changes to blue when the digital zoom is activated, and it
changes to yellow when the zoom magnification is increased further.
Zoom indicator is blue: Image quality is not noticeably reduced by using the
Dynamic Fine Zoom.
Zoom indicator is yellow: There may be cases in which image quality is noticeably
reduced.
The indicator remains blue across a wider area when the image size is smaller.
The Shutter-release Button
Press halfway
To set focus and exposure (shutter speed and
aperture value), press the shutter-release button
lightly until you feel a slight resistance.
Focus and exposure remain locked while the
shutter-release button is pressed halfway.
Press all the
way
Press the shutter-release button all the way to
release the shutter and take a picture.
Do not use force when pressing the shutter-
release button, as this may result in camera shake
and blurred images. Press the button gently.
