Focusing Your Camcorder (continued)
37
The following conditions may require the
use of manual focusing during recording.
• When using the optional wide-angle or
telephoto lens adapters, turn off the
auto-focus system and focus manually.
• Sloping or inclined surfaces may not be
focused because the reflected light will
not be returned to the auto-focus
window.
• Recording through a window may cause
the auto-focus system to focus on the
window instead of the subject.
• Dark objects, such as a subject’s
clothing, may absorb the infrared light
and require you to focus manually.
• The auto-focus system may not focus
properly on subjects more than
approximately 35 feet away from the
camcorder.
Macro Focus
The macro-focus feature lets you focus
on objects as close as 1/4 inch from your
camcorder.
1.Place the FULL AUTO OFF/ON switch
to the OFF position.
2.Press and hold in the macro button
located on the zoom ring lever while
rotating the zoom ring to the MACRO
position.
Manual Focus
Under certain conditions, such as those
listed, you may need to focus manually.
Place the FULL AUTO OFF/ON switch
in the OFF position, and turn the focus
ring with your fingers.
To maintain proper focus throughout the
zoom range, zoom in on your subject,
and adjust the focus ring to display a
sharp, clear picture in the viewfinder.
(You can zoom in by holding the power
zoom button labeled “T”.)
When the FULL AUTO OFF/ON switch
is in the OFF position, you can press and
hold the FOCUS button to activate auto
focusing. Auto focus will remain
activated until you release the FOCUS
button. This is useful if you are shooting
a relatively static scene in manual focus
and need to quickly and momentarily
adjust for a change in the scene.
3.Release the macro button.
4.Slowly rotate the zoom ring with your
fingers until you get a sharp picture.
Notes: To release macro focus, press and hold
the power zoom button “T ”.
Zooming is not possible when using macro
focus. To change the size of the subject, move
the camcorder’s lens closer or farther away
from it.
The focus ring has no effect in macro focus.
