Shooting still images/movies
You cannot turn on the
camera.
The batteries are not installed correctly.
The batteries are discharged.
The batteries are dead (page 78).
pInstall the batteries correctly (page 12).
pReplace them with charged batteries (page 10).
pReplace the batteries with new ones.
The power turns off
suddenly.
If you do not operate the camera for about three
minutes when using batteries, the camera turns
off automatically to prevent wearing down the
batteries (page 15).
The batteries are discharged.
pTurn on the camera again (page 15).
pReplace them with charged batteries (page 10).

The subject does not appear
on the LCD screen.

selected for the Scene Selection function.
You are shooting movies at a distance closer
than 1.0 m (3 feet 3 3/8 inches).
The Focus preset function is selected.
pMake sure to position the lens farther away from the subject
than the minimum shooting distance of 10 cm (4 inches) (or
15 cm (6 inches) underwater) when shooting (page 32).
pCancel the Scene Selection function (page 31).
pSelect the Focus preset function (page 32).
pSet it to [AUTO] (page 33).
The image is too dark.
The LCD screen is too dark. pSet [LCD LIGHT] to [ON] (pages 23 and 73).
The image is too bright.
The LCD screen is too bright. pSet [LCD LIGHT] to [OFF] (pages 23 and 73).
The image is monochrome
(black and white).
[P. EFFECT] is set to [B&W] mode. pCancel [B&W] mode (page 34).
Vertical streaks appear
when you are shooting a
very bright subject.
The smear phenomenon is occurring. pThis is not a malfunction.
