Troubleshooting
Your camera cannot play back images.
• Press (t step 6 in “Read This First”).
• The folder/file name has been changed on your computer (page 65).
• When an image file has been processed by a computer or when the image file was recorded
using a model other than that of your camera, playback on your camera is not guaranteed.
• The camera is in USB mode. Delete the USB connection (page 63).
The date and time are not displayed.
• (Screen display switch) button is turned off (page 23).
The image appears rough right after playback starts.
• The image may appear rough right after playback starts due to image processing. This is not a
malfunction.
Color unevenness may appear during video playback.
• This is not a malfunction. The recorded images are not affected.
Images are not displayed on the screen.
• Remove the cable for multi-use terminal (DSC-W50/W70) or the A/V cable (DSC-W30/
W40) if the cable is connected (page 78).
The image does not appear on the TV screen.
• Check [Video Out] to see if the video output signal of your camera is set to the color system of
your TV (page 55).
• Check whether the connection is correct (page 78).
• When the cable for multi-use terminal (DSC-W50/W70) or the USB cable (DSC-W30/W40)
is connected to the USB jack, remove the cable.
Your camera cannot delete an image.
• Cancel the protection (page 41).
• You are using the “Memory Stick Duo” with the write-protect switch, and the switch is set to
the LOCK position. Set the switch to the recording position (page 95).
You have deleted an image by mistake.
• Once you have deleted an image, you cannot restore it. We recommend that you protect
images (page 40), or use the “Memory Stick Duo” with the write-protect switch and set the
switch to the LOCK position (page 95) to prevent accidental erasure.
