“Memory Stick” operations
Formatting the supplied “Memory Stick”
Formatting with this camcorder is not required. The “Memory Stick” has been
formatted in the FAT-format at factory.
“Memory Stick” supplied with your camcorder
•Sample images are recorded in the “Memory Stick” (p. 84). Note that these images will
be deleted if you format the “Memory Stick.”
•Stick the supplied label on the labeling position to prevent the accidental erasure. As
for the labeling position, see the illustration on the previous page.
“Memory Stick”s formatted by a computer
“Memory Stick”s formatted by Windows OS or Macintosh computers do not have a
guaranteed compatibility with this camcorder.
Notes on image data compatibility
•Image data files recorded on “Memory Stick”s by your camcorder conform with the
Design Rules for Camera File Systems universal standard established by the JEIDA
(Japan Electronic Industry Development Association). You cannot play back on your
camcorder still images recorded on other equipment (DCR-TRV890E/TRV900/
TRV900E or DSC-D700/D770) that does not conform with this universal standard.
(These models are not sold in some areas.)
•If you cannot use the “Memory Stick” that has been used on other equipment, format
the “Memory Stick” on your camcorder following the steps on page 67. Note that all
images on the “Memory Stick” will be deleted if you format it.
