red-eye
reduction
Red-eye reduction lamp
lights before main fl ash
fi res, reducing “red-
eye.”
Use for portraits. Not recommended
when quick shutter response is required.
When to use it
Flash Cancel
(off)
Flash will not fi re even
when lighting is poor.
Use to capture natural lighting under dim
light or where use of fl ash is prohibited.
If (camera shake) icon appears, care
should be taken to avoid blurring.
Slow sync
Auto fl ash combined with
slow shutter speeds.
Use to capture both subject and back-
ground at night or under dim light. If
