FOCUS LOCK
BASIC OPERATION
1. Center your subject in the wide
focus frame.
2. Press the shutter-release button
partway down to lock the focus.
• When focus signal appears in the
viewfinder, the focus is locked.
4. Press the shutter-release button all the way down
to take the picture.
The focus-lock function is used when the sub-
ject is off-center and outside the focus frame.
Focus lock may also be used when a special
focusing situation prevents the camera from
focusing on the subject.
• Focus can also be locked with the spot AF button.
• Focus lock also sets the exposure settings.
• When focusing on moving subjects or with the sports subject program,
focus lock cannot be used.
3. Continue to hold the shutter-
release button partway down
while you compose your
picture.
• Removing your finger from the shutter-
release button cancels the focus lock.
