O:For scene modes with O, use of a tripod is recommended. Turn Vibration reduction (A143)
off when using a tripod.
Q: Pictures shot in scene modes utilizing Q are processed automatically to reduce noise and
therefore take a longer time to record.
j Night landscape OQ
Use this mode to capture night landscapes. Slow shutter speeds
are used to produce stunning night landscapes.
• Camera focuses at infinity. When the shutter-release button is
pressed halfway, the focus area or focus indicator (A8)
always lights green; however, focus may not be set for nearby
subjects, while the camera focuses at infinity.
• Motion detection (A144) is disabled.
• AF-assist illuminator does not light regardless of the AF assist (A145) setting.

close-up) and the camera automatically zooms to the position at
the closest distance at which the camera can focus.
• When the zoom indicator is positioned where the F mark
glows green, the camera can focus on subjects as close as 10
cm (4 in.) from the lens. At the K zoom position, the camera
can focus on subjects as close as 1 cm (0.4 in.) from the lens.
• AF area mode is set to Manual. Press the k button to choose the focus area in which
focus is acquired (A122).
• The camera focuses continuously until focus is locked by pressing the shutter-release
button halfway.
• As pictures are easily affected by camera shake, check the Vibration reduction (A143)
setting and hold the camera steadily.
