Basic Photography and Playback: Auto Mode
Step 2 Frame a Picture
1 Ready the camera.
Hold the camera steadily in both hands, keeping your
fingers and other objects away from the lens, flash, AF-
assist illuminator, and microphone.
When shooting in “tall” (portrait) orientation, hold the
camera so that the flash is up.
2 Frame the picture.
Position the main subject near the center of the monitor.
Using the Electronic Viewfinder
Use the electronic viewfinder to frame pictures when bright light makes it difficult
to see the display in the monitor. Press x to switch to the electronic viewfinder
(A 8).
Using the Zoom
Use the zoom buttons to activate optical zoom.
Press g (i) to zoom in so that the subject fills a
larger area of the frame, or f (h) to zoom out,
increasing the area visible in the frame.
When the zoom buttons are pressed, the zoom
indicator is displayed at the top of the monitor
display.
