5: Motion image recording stops in the
middle.
Are you using a MultiMediaCard?
This unit does not support
MultiMediaCard.
When you set the picture quality to
[30fpsVGA] or depending on the type of
card, recording may stop while you are
recording motion images (P50). We
recommend using a high-speed SD
memory card indicated with “20 MB/s”
or above on its package.
If you use a card in which pictures have
been recorded and deleted repeatedly,
recording may stop in the middle while
you are recording motion images. We
recommend you to clean up the card in
advance. (P81)
LCD monitor
1: The LCD monitor is turned off
sometimes although the camera is
turned on.
Have you set to the economy mode?

In the economy mode, the LCD
monitor is turned off while the flash is
charged.
2: The brightness of the screen
becomes dark or bright for a moment.
This phenomenon appears when
pressing the shutter button halfway to
set the aperture value and does not
affect the recorded pictures.
3: The screen is too bright or dark.
Adjust the brightness of the screen.

Is the power LCD function activated?

4: Some pixels are inactive or always lit
on the LCD monitor.
These pixels do not affect the recorded
pictures.
This is not a malfunction.
5: Noise appears on the LCD monitor.
In dark places, noise may appear to
maintain the brightness of the LCD
monitor.
This does not affect the pictures you are
recording.
6: A vertical red line appears on the LCD
monitor.
This is called smear. It is specific to
CCD, not a malfunction. It appears
when the subject has a bright part. It is
recorded on motion images, but not
recorded on still pictures.
Flash
1: Flash is not activated.
Is the flash setting set to Forced OFF
[]?
Change the flash setting. (P36)
The flash is not activated when in
motion image mode [ ], [SCENERY],
[NIGHT SCENERY], or [FIREWORKS]
in scene mode (P53) is selected.
2: The flash is activated 2 times.
When you select AUTO/Red-eye
reduction [ ], the first flash is
activated for red-eye prevention on the
subject (red-eye phenomenon) before
actually recording pictures. After the
first flash, the flash is activated again for
recording.
