Trouble check
If you run into any problem using the camcorder, use the following table to troubleshoot the problem.
Should the difficulty persist, disconnect the power source and contact your Sony dealer or local
authorized Sony service facility.

The power is not on.
The power goes off.
The battery pack is quickly discharged.
The battery pack cannot be installed.
Operation

START/STOP does not operate.
The cassette cannot be removed from
the holder.
{ and 6 indicators flash and no function
except for cassette ejection works.
“CLOCK SET” appears when the
camcorder is turned on.
The End Search function does not
activate.
Cause and/or corrective actions
The battery pack is not installed.
m Install the battery pack. (p. 11)
The battery is dead.
m Use a charged battery pack. (p. 8)
The AC power adaptor is not connected to mains.
m Connect the AC power adaptor to mains. (p. 31)
While being operated in CAMERA mode, the camcorder has
been in Standby mode for more than 5 minutes.
m Set the POWER switch to OFF, then to CAMERA. (p. 14)
The battery is dead.
m Use a charged battery pack. (p. 8)
The ambient temperature is too low. (p. 95)
The battery pack has not been charged fully.
m Charge the battery pack again. (p. 8)
The battery pack is completely dead, and cannot be recharged.
m Use another battery pack. (p. 31)
Only an NP-F10/NP-F20/NP-F30 battery pack can be used.
Cause and/or corrective actions
The tape is stuck to the drum.
m Eject the cassette. (p. 12)
The tape has run out.
m Rewind the tape or use a new one. (p. 26)
The POWER switch is set to VTR.
m Set it to CAMERA. (p. 14)
The tab on the cassette is out (red).
m Use a new cassette or slide the tab. (p. 13)
The battery is dead.
m Use a charged battery pack or the AC power adaptor.

Moisture condensation has occurred.
m Remove the cassette and leave the camcorder for at least 1
hour. (p. 100)
Reset the date and time. (p. 92)
You have not recorded on the new cassette yet.
The tape without cassette memory was ejected after recording.
