Conguration
Authentication: Depending on your network security requirements, the
camera provides three types of security setting for streaming via RTSP
Protocol: disable, basic, and digest. If basic authentication is selected, the
password is sent in plain text format, but there can be potential risks of it being
intercepted. If digest authentication is selected, user credentials are encrypted
using MD5 algorithm, thus providing better protection against unauthorized
access.
Access Name for Stream 1 ~ 5: This camera supports multiple streams
simultaneously. The access name is used to differentiate the streaming
source. If you want to use an RTSP player to access the camera, you have
to set the video mode to H.264 / MPEG-4 and use the following RTSP URL
command to request transmission of the streaming data.
Multicast and Unicast Streaming Protocols
You may choose to enable multicast or unicast for your camera audio and
video streaming so that your cameras (sources) and the receivers (clients)
can establish the connection to send and receive contents.
Unicast video transmission delivers a stream through point-to-point
transmission. Multicast, on the other hand, sends a stream to the multicast
group address and allows multiple clients to acquire the stream at the same
time by requesting a copy from the multicast group address. Therefore,
enabling multicast can effectively save network bandwidth.
An IP Multicast group address is used to send and receive content. Sources
use this group address as the destination address while sending their data
packets. Receivers use this group address to inform the network that they are
interested in receiving packets sent to that group.
