- When „m“ is displayed, the distance display is in metres.
- When „ft“ is displayed, the distance display is in feet.
The setting takes effect immediately. After about five seconds, the display stops
flashing and the setting is saved automatically.
9.8 Synchronisation on the second curtain (REAR)
Several cameras feature second curtain synchronisation (see 11.3)
Setting procedure
• actuate the shutter release in order to transfer data from the flash unit to the
camera.
• repeatedly press button combination „Select“ until only „REAR“ appears flas-
hing in the display.
• the required settings can be applied using the ( + ) and ( - ) buttons.
- when„REAR On“ is displayed the second curtain synchronisation is activa-
ted (REAR-mode).
- when„REAR Off“ is displayed the second curtain synchronisation is deacti-
vated.

hing and the setting is saved automatically. „REAR“ is shown in the display follo-
wing activation of the second curtain synchronisation.
Second curtain synchronisation cannot be activated when the flash unit is
set to high-speed synchronisation FP or HSS (see 7.3).
9.9 Shooting format adjustment (S Zoom)
Certain types of digital cameras allow the display for the position of the main
reflector to be adjusted to chip-format (dimensions of the recording module)
using the Zoom Size function („S Zoom“).

The Zoom size function cannot be set with cameras which do not support
shooting format adjustment!
10 Flash techniques
10.1 Bounce flash
Bounce flash illuminates the subject more softly and reduces dense shadows. It
also reduces the drop in light from foreground to background that occurs for
physical reasons.
The main reflector ቫ of the flash unit can be swivelled horizontally and tilted
vertically for bounce flash. To avoid colour cast in your shots, the reflective surfa-
ce should be colour-neutral or white.
When tilting the main reflector ቫ vertically, make sure that it is turned
through an angle that is wide enough to prevent direct light from falling
on the subject. For this reason the reflector should be tilted at least as far
as the 60° lock-in position. Flash ranges do not appear on the display
when the main reflector is turned! When the reflector head is tilted, the
main reflector is moved to a position of greater/equal 70 mm in order to
