Subject is not in
focus
Subject is difficult to focus
on with autofocus
Lock focus on another object located at
the same distance (press shutter
release button halfway), then compose
picture and press shutter release
button fully, or use Manual Focus
mode (p.64).
Subject is not in focusing
area
Position subject in focus frame in
middle of LCD monitor. If the subject is
outside the focusing area, aim the
camera at the subject and lock the
focus (press shutter release button
halfway), then compose picture and
press the shutter release button fully.
Subject is too close Set focus mode to q (Macro) (p.63).
Focus mode is set to q
(Macro)
Subjects at a distance of 40 cm or
greater will be out of focus if taken with
the focus mode set to q (Macro)
(p.63).
Subject is too dark to
focus on
Set auxiliary AF light to On (p.66).
Flash does not
discharge
Flash mode is set to a
