Useful functions for
recording movies and
photos
The and icons indicate the 3D and
2D positions of the 2D/3D switch (p. 26),
respectively.
Zooming
You can magnify images with the power
zoom lever. Magnifications available are as
follows. You can magnify images also with
the
/ on the LCD screen.
3D recording: 10 times the original size
2D recording: 17 times the original size
Move the power zoom lever slightly for a
slower zoom. Move it further for a faster
zoom.
Optimum distance from the subject
and zooming level
The distance at which you can obtain
good 3D movies varies depending on the
zooming level.
Distance from the subject Zoom
about 80 cm to 6 m
(3 ft. to 20 ft.)
about 2.5 m to 10 m
(8 ft. to 32 ft.)
about 7.5 m to 20 m
(25 ft. to 65 ft.)
Notes
If the movies appear doubled on the LCD
screen, return the zoom to the original level.
A subject within 80 cm (about 3 ft.) away
should be recorded in 2D.
Be sure to keep your finger on the power zoom
lever. If you move your finger off the power
zoom lever, the operation sound of the power
zoom lever may also be recorded.
You cannot change the zoom speed with the
/ button on the LCD screen.
The minimum possible distance between
camcorder and subject while maintaining
sharp focus is about 1 cm (about 13/32 in.) for
wide angle and about 80 cm (about 3 ft.) for
telephoto (2D mode only).
You can magnify images using optical zooming,
unless [
SteadyShot] is set to [Active].
Magnifications available are as follows.
3D recording: 10 times
2D recording: 12 times
Tips
You can set [Digital Zoom] if you want to zoom
to a greater level (p. 75) (2D mode only).
