Troubleshooting
The imaging field looks different.
• The imaging field may look different depending on the condition of your camcorder. This is
not a malfunction.
The actual recording time for movies is less than the expected recording time
of the recording media.
• Depending on the recording conditions, the time available for recording may be shorter, for
example when recording a fast moving object, etc. (p. 101).
The camcorder does not keep the setting changes.
• Some menu items return to the default setting when the power is turned off (p. 69).
• The LCD backlight setting and the EXPANDED FOCUS setting are not stored.
• You disconnected the power sources when the POWER switch was set to ON. Before
disconnecting the battery or the AC Adaptor/Charger, set the POWER switch to OFF and
make sure that the access lamp is turned off.
There is a time difference between the point when the record button is pressed
and the point that the recording movie is started or stopped actually.
• On your camcorder, there may be a slight time difference between the point where you press
the record button and the actual point that recording movie starts/stops. This is not a
malfunction.
There are time differences in recording start/stop points of the simultaneously
recorded movies.
• When you do the simultaneous recording with [ / SET] set to [ :
: ] or [ : : ], there may be slight time lags in the recorded movies.
This is not a malfunction.
The aspect ratio (16:9 (wide)/4:3) cannot be changed.
• The aspect ratio of high definition image quality (HD) movies is 16:9 (wide).
Automatic focus does not function.
• Set the FOCUS switch to AUTO to enable the automatic focus function (p. 28).
• Adjust the focus manually if the automatic focus does not work properly (p. 28).
[This function is currently not available.] appears when selecting a function on
the MODE menu.
• Try again after finishing all tasks currently selected on the MODE menu.
• If 720 is selected as [REC FORMAT] for [SMOOTH SLOW REC], select 1080 as [REC
FORMAT].
Menu items are grayed out or do not work.
• You cannot select grayed out display items in the current recording/playback situation.
