Using the Setup items
You can fix the brightness of a picture
manually. When recording indoors on a clear
day, for instance, you can avoid backlight
shadows on people next to the window by
fixing the exposure to that of the wall side of
the room.

To return the setting to automatic exposure,
touch [AUTO] t .
If you rotate the LCD panel 180 degrees and close
the LCD panel with the screen facing outwards,
you can adjust [FADER] and [EXPOSURE]
while looking through the viewfinder (p.78).
The setting returns to [AUTO] when you set the
POWER switch to OFF (CHG) for more than 12
hours.
You can adjust the color balance to the
brightness of the recording environment.
BAUTO
The white balance is adjusted automatically.
OUTDOOR ( )
The white balance is adjusted to be
appropriate for the following recording
conditions:
Outdoors
Night views, neon signs and fireworks
Sunrise or sunset
Under daylight fluorescent lamps
INDOOR (n)
The white balance is adjusted to be
appropriate for the following recording
conditions:
Indoors
At party scenes or studios where the
lighting conditions change quickly
Under the video lamps of those at a studio,
or under sodium lamps or incandescent-
like color lamps
ONE PUSH ( )
The white balance will be adjusted
according to the ambient light.
1 Touch [ONE PUSH].
2 Frame a white object such as a piece of
paper, to fill the screen under the same
lighting conditions as you will shoot the
subject.
3 Touch [ ].

When you have changed the battery pack while
[AUTO] is selected, or you bring your camcorder

at a nearby white object for about 10 seconds for
better color balance adjustment.
Redo the [ONE PUSH] procedure if you change
the [PROGRAM AE] settings, or bring your
camcorder outdoors from inside the house, or vice
versa during the [ONE PUSH] is set to on.
Set [WHITE BAL.] to [AUTO] or [ONE PUSH]
under white or cool white fluorescent lamps.
The setting returns to [AUTO] when you set the
POWER switch to OFF (CHG) for more than 12
hours.
