To take a picture with the subject in the foreground
in focus against a background, half-press the
shutter release button to focus on the subject, and
then compose your shot.

Gently press the shutter release
button all the way.
• The still image you have taken appears
momentarily on the picture display and
is recorded to the internal memory or
SD memory card.

The color of the frame in the center of the picture display indicates whether the subject
is in or out of focus.
• It may be impossible to bring the following subjects into focus.
• Subjects lacking contrast (the sky, a white wall, the hood of a car, etc.).
• Flat two-dimensional objects with only horizontal lines and no significant
protrusions.
• Quickly moving objects.
• Things in poorly lit places.
• Areas with strong backlighting, or reflections.
• Things that flicker, such as fluorescent lights.
When you want to shoot subjects like this, first focus on an object the same distance
as your subject and then shoot.
