Problem Cause Solution
The picture is
too dark.
The flash is not on or did
not function.
Turn on the flash. See
page 10.
The subject is too far
away for the flash to
have an effect.
Move to within 8 ft
(2.4 m) of subject.
The subject is in front of
a bright light.
Change your position so
light is not behind the
subject.
The picture is
too light.
The flash is not needed. Change to Auto flash.

The subject was too
close when the flash was
used.
Move at least 5 ft
(1.5 m) from the subject.
Stored pictures
are damaged.
The Picture Card was
inserted or removed
when the green Ready
light was blinking.
Make sure the Ready
light is not blinking
before inserting or
removing a Picture Card.
The picture is
not clear.
The lens is dirty. Clean the lens. See page
52.
The subject was too
close when a picture was
taken.
Stand at least 2 ft (0.6 m)
away from the subject.
The subject or camera
moved while a picture
was taken.
Hold the camera steady
until a picture is taken.
Subject was too far away
for the flash to have an
effect.
Move to within 8 ft
(2.4 m) of the subject.
Cannot delete a
picture.
The picture is delete-
protected.
