My image is
too dark.
There was not
enough light.
Wait for natural lighting
conditions to improve, add
indirect lighting, use the flash
(see page 31), or adjust the
Exposure Compensation (see
page 39).
The flash was
on, but the
subject was too
far away.
Make sure your subject is within
the flash working distance (see
Appendix B: Specifications on
page 112). If your subject is
outside the flash working
distance, try using the Flash Off
setting (see page 31), which will
require a longer exposure.
A light shone
behind the
subject.
Use the Flash On setting (see
page 31) to brighten the subject,
or adjust the Exposure
Compensation (see page 39).
Your finger
blocked the
flash.
Be sure to move your fingers
away from the flash when you
take a picture.
The scene had
many light-
colored objects,
such as a white
dog in snow.
Increase the Exposure
Compensation
(see page 39)
so the light-colored objects in the
scene will not look “muddy.”
