The Shooting Menu
Image Quality (• )
To reduce the amount of memory that each shot
occupies, pictures are compressed as they are
saved to the memory card. Compression selec-
tively reduces the quality of the image; the more
the picture is compressed, the more noticeable
this loss of quality is likely to be. The actual ef-
fect depends on the size of the picture when
printed or displayed and on the type of subject.
The image quality menu allows you to choose
the amount of compression performed.
Image size refers to the physical dimensions of
the image, measured in pixels. Choose an image
size according to the space available on the
memory card and the task at hand.
