C Icons Used for Descriptions
The following icons are used for descriptions in this section: X, flash mode when the built-in flash is
raised (A32); n, self-timer/smile timer/blink proof (A35, 54); p, focus mode (A36); o, exposure
compensation (A39).
b Portrait Q
Use this mode for taking portraits in which the main subject
stands out clearly. Portrait subjects exhibit smooth, natural-
looking skin tones.
The camera automatically detects and focuses on a face
looking toward the camera (see “Shooting with Face Priority”
(A123) for more information).
If the camera detects multiple faces, the camera focuses on the face closest to the camera.
If no face is recognized, the camera will focus on the subject in the center of the frame.
The Did someone blink? screen may be displayed when the Blink warning option
(A149) in the setup menu is set to On (default setting). Press the k button or the
shutter-release button to return to the shooting screen. See “Operating the Did someone
blink? Screen” (A150) for more information.
Digital zoom is not available.
