O:For scene modes with O, use of a tripod is recommended. Turn Vibration reduction (A143)
off when using a tripod.
Q: Pictures shot in scene modes utilizing Q are processed automatically to reduce noise and
therefore take a longer time to record.
e Night portrait OQ
Use this mode to achieve a natural balance between the main
subject and background lighting in portraits taken at night.
• The camera automatically detects and focuses on a face
looking toward the camera (see “Shooting with Face Priority”
(A123) for more information).
• If the camera detects multiple faces, the camera focuses on
the face closest to the camera.
• If no face is recognized, the camera will focus on the subject in the center of the frame.
• The Did someone blink? screen may be displayed when the Blink warning option
(A149) in the setup menu is set to On (default setting). Press the k button or the shutter-
release button to return to the shooting screen. See “Operating the Did someone blink?
Screen” (A150) for more information.

Shoot pictures with the built-in flash raised.
• Digital zoom is not available.
• Motion detection (A144) is disabled.

Suitable for taking pictures in parties. Captures the effects of
candlelight and other indoor background lighting.
