Symptom Cause and/or Corrective Actions
The CHG (charge) lamp does not
light while the battery pack is being
charged.
cAttach the battery pack to the camcorder correctly. If the lamp still does
not light up, the power may not be supplied from the wall socket.
The battery has already been fully charged. (p. 13)
cInsert your camcorder to the Handycam Station correctly. (p. 4)
The CHG (charge) lamp flashes while
the battery pack is being charged.
cAttach the battery pack to the camcorder correctly. If the problem
persists, disconnect the AC Adaptor from the wall socket and contact
your Sony dealer. The battery pack may be damaged. (p. 13)
The battery pack is quickly
discharged.
The temperature of the environment is too low, or the battery pack is not
fully charged. This is not a malfunction.
cFully charge the battery again. If the problem persists, replace the
battery pack with a new one. It may be damaged. (p. 13, 101)
The remaining battery time indicator
does not indicate the correct time.
The camcorder has been used for a long time in an environment too low
or too high in temperature, or the battery pack is not fully charged. This
is not a malfunction.
cFully charge the battery again. If the problem persists, replace the
battery pack with a new one. It may be damaged. (p. 13, 100)
The power turns off frequently
although the remaining battery
indicator indicates that the battery
pack has enough power to operate.
A deviation has occurred in the remaining battery time, or the battery
pack is not fully charged. (p. 100)
cFully charge the battery again to correct the indication. (p. 13)
The power abruptly turns off. • [A.SHUT OFF] in the (STANDARD SET) menu is set to [5min].

cWhen you leave your camcorder without doing any operation for about
5 minutes after you turn on your camcorder, the power will
automatically turns off. Slide the POWER switch down, then turn on
the power again, or use the AC Adaptor.
A problem occurs when the
camcorder is connected to the AC
Adaptor.
cTurn off the power, and disconnect the AC Adaptor from the wall socket.
Then, connect it again.
Symptom Cause and/or Corrective Actions
The cassette cannot be ejected from
the compartment.
cMake sure the power source (battery pack or AC Adaptor) is connected
correctly. (p. 13)
cRemove the battery pack from the camcorder, then attach it again. (p. 14)
cAttach a charged battery pack to the camcorder. (p. 13)
The cassette is not ejected even when
the cassette lid is open.
Moisture condensation is starting in your camcorder. (p. 103)
