Using the Camera
AF-assist illuminator
Use this illuminator to focus on the subject in dimly lit
conditions.
When pressing the shutter button down halfway, the
camera fires the AF-assist illuminator (green) while
focusing on your subject.
MEMO
Even when the AF-assist illuminator fires, the camera
may have difficulty focusing in some conditions.
The camera focuses most easily when a picture is taken
at a distance of around 4.5 m (14.8 ft.) with wide-angle
and 2.0 m (6.6 ft.) with telephoto.
Even though there is no danger to safety, do not expose
it directly in someone’s eyes.
When using the AF-assist illuminator in Macro mode,
the camera may have difficulty focusing to take close-
up shots.

, , or mode.
Using zoom function
Turn the zoom ring to take pictures with zoom function.
The zoom bar appears on the screen during zooming.
CHECK
Optical zoom focal length (35 mm camera
equivalent)
Approx. 28 mm to 300 mm Max. zoom scale: 10.7×
Press (p.15, 31) to change to Digital
zoom mode (2×).
Use the zoom ring to adjust digital zoom
operation as well as optical zoom.
