Theself-timerisusefulforself-portraitsorreducingtheeffectsofcamerashake
thatoccurwhentheshutter-releasebuttonispressed.Thetimercanbesettoten
ortwoseconds.Whenusingtheself-timer,useofatripodisrecommended.Set
Vibration reduction (_ 178) to Off in the setup menu (_ 169)when using a
tripod to stabilize the camera during shooting.
1 Press the rotary multi selector _) (self-timer).
The stir-timer menu isdisplayed.

lOs (ten seconds): Use on important occasions, such as
weddings.
2s (two seconds): Useto prevent camera shake.

detect a human face, and then automatically releases the
shutter when a smile is detected ([_ 37).
When the shooting mode isthe Pet portrait scene mode, I_i (Pet portrait auto release)
is displayed (_ 74).The self-timer settings lOs and 2s cannot be used.
The mode selected for seJf-timer is displayed.
Ira setting is not appJied by pressing the _) button within afew seconds, the selection
will be canceJed.
3 Frame the picture and press the _ 1
shutter-release button halfway.
