The camera usesface detection to detect human faces,and then automatically
releasesthe shutter when a smile isdetected.
This feature can be used when shooting mode (_ 45) is set to I_1 (auto) mode or
the [] (night portrait) or Portrait scene mode (_ 61).
1 Press the rotary multi selector _) (self-timer).
The self-timer menu isdisplayed.
To adjust settings for flash mode, creative slider, exposure
compensation, or items in the shooting menu, adjust the
settings before pressing _t_).
2 Use the rotary multi selector to choose =1
(smile timer) and press the _) button.
Ira setting is not applied by pressing the _) button
within a few seconds, the selection will be canceled.
3 Framea picture.
Point the camera at the subject.
When the camera detects a human face, a double border
(focus area) is displayed around that face. When focus is
acquired on that face, the double border will turn green
for a moment and focus is locked.
Up to three faces can be detected. When the camera
detects more than one face, the double border (focus area) is displayed around the face
closest to the center of the frame, and single borders around the others.
4 The shutter is automatically released.
If the camera detects that the face framed by the double border is smiling, the shutter is
automatically released.
Eachtime the shutter is released, the camera repeats automatic shooting by face
detection and smile detection.
S Finish shooting.
To end automatic shooting by smile detection, either turn offthe camera or set the
smile timer to OFF.
