Recording
88:88 appears when the clock’s lithium
cell has not been installed or needs to
be replaced.

Focus Indicators (FOCUSLOCK
and )
FOCUSLOCK appears briefly when
you lock the focus with the FOCUS
LOCK button. Then remains during
focus lock.
Details are on page 30.
Status Displays
Several status displays appear to let you
know what the camcorder is doing.
FF appears during fast-forward
operation.
PAUSE appears during record-pause.
REC appears during recording.
REW appears during rewind.
STOP appears during stop-action
pause.
Tape-Remaining Display
( )
The tape-remaining display shows the
approximate amount of tape remaining
in the cassette.

Time Counter (M 0:00:00)
The time counter appears during
recording and playback. It is not
recorded.
An “M” appears in front of the time
counter when memory-stop feature
is on.

Warnings and Information
The following warnings with the excep-
tion of the TAPE indicator cause the
camcorder to beep ten times.
TAPE appears during recording when
there is approximately five minutes of
recording time left on the tape.
TAPE END appears during recording
when the tape is at its end or when a
cassette is inserted with its tape already
at the end.
appears when the safety tab on the
cassette has been closed, there is no
cassette in the camcorder, or condensa-
tion has formed inside the cassette or
camcorder.
appears when moisture (condensa-
tion) has formed inside the cassette or
camcorder. The camcorder will not
operate. Place the camcorder or
cassette in a warm, dry area until the
indicator disappears.
Zoom Indicator ( )
The zoom indicator appears here when
you use the zoom lever.
