Shooting still images
If the AF illuminator light does not reach the
subject sufficiently or the subject has weak
contrast, focus will not be achieved. (An
approximate distance of 0.3 m to 2.3 m (11 7/8
inches to 7 feet 6 1/2 inches) is recommended.)
Focus is achieved as long as AF illuminator
light reaches the subject, even if the light is
slightly off the center of the subject.
When the focus preset distance is set (page 46),
the AF illuminator does not function.
The AF illuminator emits very bright light.
Although there are no problems with safety,
directly looking into the AF illuminator at close
range is not recommended.
When 9 (Focus) is set to [Multi AF] or
[Center AF], the AF range finder is not
displayed. or flashes and the centrally-
located subject has priority to focus on.
The AF illuminator does not operate when SCN
is set to
(Twilight mode) or
(Landscape mode) in the menu settings
(page 55).
