10. For the ink setting, select Color (for color documents and black and white
photographs) or Black (for black text documents).
11. Select Automatic as the Mode setting for the best results printing basic
documents or images. (For instructions on using Advanced mode, see page 31.)
12. Move the slider to the Quality setting to print images or documents using higher
print quality, or to the Speed setting for faster printing.
Note: For more information about printer settings, click Help. The OS X printer
driver contains a subset of the settings available with the OS 8.6 to 9.x Macintosh
printer driver described in this book.
13. You can also choose these options in the pull-down menu:
■ Copies & Pages, to select the number of copies or a page range
■ Layout, to select page layout options
■ Output Options, to save your print job as a PDF file
■ Roll Paper Option (if a Roll Paper option is selected as the Printer setting),
to select roll paper options; see page 35 for details
■ Color Management, to select ColorSync,
®
adjust the color controls, change
the gamma setting, or turn off color adjustments by the printer software
■ Expansion (if Sheet Feeder - Borderless is selected as the Printer setting),
to adjust the borderless image size; see page 43 for details
■ Extension Setting, to correct ink smearing when printing on thick paper or
envelopes.
■ Summary, to view a list of all your selections
14. Click Print.
Caution: Don’t open Epson Status Monitor, pause printing, or respond to any
on-screen, low ink messages when your printer is in the middle of a print job. This
may cause your printer to pause and leave an uneven surface on your printout. If
your ink is running low, wait until printing finishes before checking ink levels or
attempting to replace a cartridge. If you must replace an ink cartridge in the
middle of a print job, the quality of your printout may decline. For best results,
check your ink levels and replace ink cartridges, if necessary, before printing large
or high-resolution print jobs.
