not light.
Off is selected for AF assist in the setup menu. AF-
assist illuminator may not light depending on the
current scene mode, even when Auto is selected.

Using flash.
Specifying a lower ISO sensitivity setting.

The flash is lowered or a shooting mode in which
the flash does not fire is selected.
Flash is blocked by finger or other object.
Subject is beyond flash range.
Adjust exposure compensation.
Increase ISO sensitivity.

mode, or raise the flash and set the flash mode to X
(fill flash).

Areas not affected by red-
eye are corrected.
When taking pictures with V (auto with red-eye
reduction), or when taking pictures with Night
portrait (either in easy auto mode or in scene mode)
and the fill flash with slow sync and red-eye reduction
is used, red-eye reduction may be applied, in rare
cases, to areas not affected by red-eye. Use auto
mode or any scene mode other than Night portrait,
and change the flash mode to any setting other than
V (auto with red-eye reduction) and try taking a
picture again.
