Digital ESP metering
The camera measures the light levels and calculates the light level differences in 49
separate areas of the image. This precision ensures accurate metering even when
there is a lot of contrast between the center of the screen and the area around it,
such as when shooting backlit subjects or shooting under very bright light. This
mode is recommended for general use.
When [ESP+AF] is selected, the metering area moves simultaneously with the
active position of the AF frame.
4 Center weighted averaging metering
This metering mode provides the average metering
between the subject and the background lighting,
placing more weight on the subject at the center.
Use this mode when you do not want the light level
of the background to affect the exposure value.
n Spot metering
The camera meters a very small area around the
center of the subject, defined by the spot metering
area mark in the viewfinder. Use this mode when
there is very strong backlight.
n HI
Spot metering - highlight control
The camera is set to over expose the metering
point. Use this mode when you want subjects that

n SH

point. Use this mode when you want subjects that
are black to appear black.
