Exposure Indicator
• This indicator appears when you
are adjusting brightness manually
using the + or button. The FULL
AUTO/PRESET switch must be in
PRESET.

White Balance Indicators
• If you adjust white balance
manually, the indicator (MWB,

or ) for the mode you
select appears here. The FULL
AUTO/PRESET switch must be in
PRESET.

INDEX Indicator
INDEX appears when an index
mark is being made on the tape.

Lithium Cell ( )
• This indicator flashes for a few
seconds when you first turn on the
camcorder and the time and date
have not been set.
• This indicator also appears when
the clock cell is missing or it needs
to be replaced. Details are on
page 48.

TAPE END Warning
• TAPE END appears when the end
of the tape is reached during
recording or a cassette is inserted
with its tape already at the end.
Tape Length
The tape length (T20, T30, or T40)
selected with the Tape Length
feature on the recording menu
appears here. Details are on
page 44.
Cassette Warning
•The indicator appears when a
cassette is in the camcorder.
• The indicator flashes when the
POWER switch is set to CAMERA
and there is no cassette in the
camcorder.
Time-Counter
The time counter appears during
playback. It is not recorded.
• An “M” appears in front of the time
counter when memory-stop is on.

Manual Focus Indicators ( )
These indicators appear when focus
is adjusted manually using the
NEAR or FAR button. The FULL
AUTO/PRESET switch must be in
PRESET.
• Manual focus lock indicators ( )
appear when focus is moving
toward near or far.
• Low-contrast indicators ( )
flash when the auto-focus system
cannot focus properly.
