Recording
Tally Light
The tally light lights when the camcorder
is recording.
The tally light can be turned off using the
record menu. See page 53.
Quick Record
Quick record lets you make five second
recordings for quick scene transitions.
Place VCR/OFF/CAMERA switch in
CAMERA.
• Press and release QUICK REC to make
a five-second recording. The
camcorder will record for five seconds
and return to record pause.
• Press and hold QUICK REC to continue
recording. Release the button to return
the camcorder to record pause. Press
the thumb trigger to start normal
recording at this point.
Notes: Fading does not operate when you use
the QUICK REC button to record.
Quick recording cannot be used during
animation or time-lapse recording.

Tally Light
Microphone
The microphone picks up the sound
during a recording. It is more sensitive to
sounds coming from the direction the
lens is pointed.
Flying Erase Head
A separate erase head is mounted on
the spinning headwheel (hence the term
“flying”). This allows you to make clean
edits without the “glitches” or “rainbow
noise” that may occur at the beginning or
the end of recordings.
Auto Head Cleaner
The camcorder has an automatic head-
cleaning system. Whenever a cassette is
inserted or removed, this system is
activated.
The head-cleaning system minimizes the
need for accessory cleaners or cleaning
by a Servicenter.
