Use manual focus for subjects that are not suitable for Auto focus or where you want the focus fixed
for a shot.

Set the Focus mode selector switch to "MF".
@ The "1_" appears on the screen.
If the focus is set to infinity using manual focusing, position the
"O" (Focus) mark on a subject close to infinity. Continuing to
turn the FZ ring will move the focus position beyond infinity
and defocus the image,

Because the shot may go out of focus if the camera
is moved, a tripod should be used.

_Turn the FZ ring to focus on the subject in the
AF frame.
@A focusing indicator mark appears on the
screen. Adjust the focus until "0" appears.
• Focusing indicator marks
The focusing mark appears when moving the focus
a set amount (close to the focused position). Use
the mark as a guide to focusing.
If the "0" (focused) mark appears when the shot is not in
focus, tryusing the One-touchAF function.
The shot is focused.
The focus is set tooclose. Turn the FZ ring clockwise.
The focus is set too far. Turn the FZ ring counter-
clockwise.
Use this function to focus the shot quickly.
Pressing the "_,-O-,1" button, the camera uses the
autofocus function to focus on the subject.
:_t The focus indicator is not displayed in one-touch AF mode.
Use this function when it is difficult to see whether
the image is focused.
Pressing the "[_]" (Focus Check) button, the central
portion of the image is shown enlarged and can be
focused using the enlarged image. Take the picture
or press the "[@]" button again to return to normal
display.
The Focus check function is disabled when the AF mode is
set to MLUTI or AREA.
Use this button when you are shooting pictures of a moving subject. Using Continuous AF mode
reduces the time required for focusing.

Frame the shot so that the subject fills the center of
the image or the entire AF frame.

Pressing the Shutter button down halfway, the
camera emits a short double-beep and focuses on
your subject. At that point the AF frame on the
screen becomes smaller and the camera sets the
shutter speed and aperture.
The indicator lamp (green) stops blinking and
remains lit.

Pressing the Shutter button down fully without
releasing it, the camera makes a clicking noise and
takes the picture. The camera then records the
photographed image.

Check the remaining battery charge when using C-AF mode.
Because the camera focuses continually even when the shutter button is not pressed, check the
remaining battery charge when using C-AF mode.
