Using the Built-in Flash
Daylight-Sync Shooting
Because of the different directions of the lights, you may nd some unexpected
shadow even in the daylight condition. You can reduce the shadow on the
subject by using the built-in ash. Use of the ash in this way is called
Daylight-Sync Shooting. Flash is discharged manually when shooting with
Daylight-Sync Shooting.
1. Con rm that the ash has popped up and the [FLASH] mode is set to [Fill-In]
Flash.
2. Con rm that the ash is fully charged.
3. Take the picture.
The picture may be over-exposed if the background is too bright.
Front curtain sync, Rear curtain sync
The next example shows the difference between front curtain sync and rear
curtain sync. Rear curtain sync is used to freeze motion at the end of the
exposure in a sharp image.
1st Curtain Sync., Tv Mode,
Aperture: f = 8, Shutter Speed: 1/15sec
2nd Curtain Sync., Tv Mode,
Aperture: f = 8, Shutter Speed: 1/15sec
