Chapter 7: Troubleshooting and Support 127
My image is
too dark.
There was not
enough light.
z Wait for natural lighting
conditions to improve.
z Add indirect lighting.
z Use the flash (see page 41).
z Adjust the EV Compensation
(see
page 51).
z Use Adaptive Lighting (see
page 62).
The flash was
on, but the
subject was too
far away.
Make sure your subject is within
the flash working distance. If so,
try using the Flash Off
setting
(see page 41), which will require
a longer exposure (use a tripod).
A light is
behind the
subject.
z Use the Flash On setting (see
page 41), or use Adaptive
Lighting (see
page 62) to
brighten the subject.
z Increase the EV Compensation
(see
page 51).
z Use the Spot setting for AE
Metering (see
page 60).
The scene had
many light-
colored objects,
such as a white
dog in snow.
Increase the EV Compensation (see
page 51).
The wrong
date and/or
time is

The date and/
or time was set
incorrectly or

has changed.
Reset the date and time by using
the Date & Time option in the
