VSPA-D7 Features
Overview of the System
The Sony VSPA-D7 Digital Signage Player Management
Software is designed to manage systems that distribute
audio and visual content to Sony VSP-NS7 Digital
Signage Players via a network and then play that content,
such as sales promotional videos at stores or commercial
videos in public places. The VSP-NS7 player is called a
“player” in this manual.
The VSPA-D7 software supports a wide range of display
sizes and both landscape and portrait orientation of a
display, which allows you to use the systems with the
maximum layout flexibility.
The main tasks of the VSPA-D7 software, such as
registering materials, and creating playlists and schedules,
can be performed by simple drag & drop operations.
Functions of the VSPA-D7 Software
The VSPA-D7 software provides the following functions:
Making settings required for content distribution
• Registering the players and creating the required groups
The players are grouped and registered according to the
content they play, and the resolution and orientation
(portrait or landscape) of the display device connected to
the respective players.
• Time adjustment and other settings for players
Registering materials to be played on a player
• Registering materials, such as video, graphics, and audio
files, that have been created using other application
software
• Registering Sony IP camera information when using
streaming video from cameras
• Registering the URLs of web pages
• Creating and registering text material
• Registering control commands
The VSPA-D7 software provides basic commands for
the display connected to a player. You can also add
control commands to adjust the audio volume of a
player.
Creating playlists and playback schedules for
players
• Creating playlists
Specifying combinations of the pieces of material to be
played, their playout order, and layout settings.
• Creating extra audio lists
Specifying the pieces of audio material to be played with
playlists.
• Creating a schedule
Listing playlists and extra audio lists, and specifying
when they should be played
Commands for display control or volume control can be
listed on a schedule, too.
A schedule can be created easily when saving a playlist,
too.
Distribution to a player
• Distribution of schedules
Distribution of a schedule will automatically compare
data stored on the players and required for playback of
the schedule, then the VSPA-D7 will distribute missing
data only.
• Interruption of playback
Interrupting playback currently performed on the players
to show newly distributed content.
• Checking distribution status
System maintenance
• Checking the status of each player
• Power control or restarting of each player
• Collecting system logs from each player
• Updating internal programs of each player
In addition to the above operations, the VSPA-D7 software
also provides the capability to change the settings for
VSPA-D7 configurations.
Materials that the VSPA-D7 Software
can Handle
The VSPA-D7 software can handle the following
materials:
• Video: MPEG2 program streams (MP@ML) and
Windows Media Video
• MPEG4 live streaming video: a video stream from a
Sony IP camera
• Graphics: Bitmap and JPEG files
• Web pages: Web pages can be displayed on the player by
specifying the appropriate URLs.
• Flash files: Adobe Flash files
• Audio: Wave, Windows Media Audio and MP3 files
• Text: Captions that you create with the VSPA-D7
software by specifying the content, color, font, and other
attributes.
Text material will be converted to bitmap files before
being sent to players. It is also possible to import a text
or bitmap file as a piece of text material.
You can use ordinary files created with conventional
application software.
