Connecting via SCSI
When connecting the scanner to a computer using a SCSI card,
use the following SCSI cards and cables.
SCSI card
Use one of the following recommended SCSI cards:
Adaptec SCSI card (for PCI bus)
AHA-2930U
AHA-2940AU
ASC-19160
ASC-29160
When installing a SCSI card on your computer, follow the direc-
tions in both the manual for the SCSI card and the computer.
SCSI cable
The SCSI connector on the scanner is a half-pitch 50-pin con-
nector (pin-type). No SCSI cable is supplied with the scanner.
To connect the scanner to a computer, obtain a SCSI cable
with the correct connectors for the scanner and the SCSI card
installed in the computer.
The maximum length of SCSI cables are defined by the SCSI
standard. For details, see the user manual for your SCSI card.
Only one SCSI port can be used on the scanner
and terminator setting is fixed to ON.
You cannot daisy chain multiple MS300II scanners.
The SCSI ID for the scanner can be set from ID0 to
ID5. By default, the SCSI ID for the scanner is set to
SCSI ID=2. When changing the SCSI ID setting,
make sure to contact an authorized Canon dealer
or service professional.
When daisy chaining the scanner with the other SCSI
devices, note the following:
Change the ID of the other SCSI devices so they
do not to overlap.
Make sure that the scanner is at the end of the
chain and the terminate setting of the other de-
vices is OFF.
