FOCUS TOO
CLOSE and focus

The focus
distance is closer
than the camera
can focus in the
Macro
shooting mode.
Move farther away from
the subject, within Macro
range (see page 42).
UNABLE TO
FOCUS and focus
brackets red
The camera
cannot find focus
in the Macro
shooting mode,
possibly due to
low contrast.
Use Focus Lock (see
page 38). Point at a
part of the scene that is
brighter or has a high
contrast edge.
Make sure the subject
is within Macro range
of 20 to 50 cm (8 to
20 in).
LOW LIGHT -
UNABLE TO
FOCUS and focus
brackets red
The scene is too
dark and the
camera cannot
focus.
Add an external light
source.
Use Focus Lock (see
page 38). Point at a
part of the scene that is
brighter.
(camera shake
warning)
The light is low
and the image is
likely to be blurry
due to the long
exposure
required.
Use the flash (see
page 40), set the camera
on a stable surface, or use
a tripod.
