Using a Memory Card
Other Information and Precautions
The camcorder formats memory cards in DCF (Design rule for Camera File
system).
Still images/movies recorded on a memory card with this camcorder can also
be transferred to a PC with the use of the following products made for SD
Memory Cards or MultiMediaCards:
PC Card Adapter: Holds a memory card then inserts into the PC card slot
found on most types of laptop PCs.
FD Adapter: Holds a memory card then inserts into a PC’s floppy disk drive.
Memory Cards confirmed to operate with this camcorder (as of June
2002)
SD Memory Card—
Panasonic: 8 MB, 16 MB, 32 MB, 64 MB
SanDisk: 8 MB, 16 MB, 32 MB, 64 MB
MultiMediaCard—
SanDisk: 8 MB, 16 MB, 32 MB, 64 MB
However, we cannot guarantee that all of these memory cards work
properly.
If you mistakenly erase the card mix sample images provided on the SD
Memory Card, they can be downloaded from the following home page:*

*If you are unable to connect the camcorder to a PC using a USB cable, you
will need a PC Card Adapter or USB Card Reader to be able to download to
a memory card.
If you purchase additional memory cards, format them with the camcorder,
not a PC or other device. There have been cases where memory cards
formatted with a PC or other device do not function properly.
We recommend saving backups of memory card images on your PC’s hard
drive or other external memory device. Image data may be damaged or
lost due to a defect in a memory card, or if a memory card is exposed to
static electricity. Contents of a memory card cannot be compensated for
should data become damaged or lost.
Do not remove the power source or the memory card while the card access
indicator flashes.
Do not use memory cards in places subject to strong magnetic fields.
Do not disassemble memory cards.
Do not bend or drop memory cards, or expose them to strong vibrations or
external shocks.
