Recording modes
Taking motion pictures in
The camera automatically detects and sets the type of scene for motion pictures with
optimal settings.
When the scene does not
correspond to any on the right.

About the recording format for recording motion pictures
This camera can record motion pictures in either AVCHD or MP4 formats.
AVCHD:
You can record high definition quality images with this format. It is suitable for
viewing motion pictures on a high-resolution TV or for saving them to a disc.
MP4:
This is a simpler video format best used when extensive editing is needed.
• You can record a motion picture to the built-in memory only in [MP4] using the
[VGA] setting.
About the compatibility of the recorded motion pictures
Motion pictures recorded in [AVCHD] or [MP4] may be played back with poor
picture or sound quality or playback may not be possible at all even with equipment
compatible with these formats. Also, the recording information may not be displayed
properly. In this case, use the camera to play back.
